What do sex, music, science, golf and Google have in common?

TEDxNapaValley 2014 of course! The New Business Development Manager at Google Inc., a sexual empowerment coach and two high school students with impressive scientific research resumes, are among the initial lineup of confirmed speakers announced that will present at this year’s TEDxNapaValley conference.

TEDxNapaValley 2014 is designed to spark conversation and incite debate about when and why we should ignore the status quo. Sometimes a venture into uncharted territory is fueled by a hardship that must be overcome. Other times, it’s driven by a vision – a conviction to take goals and dreams to the next level.

Thought leaders from around the local area and the country will share their insights and perspectives on the value of going “against the grain” to do something unconventionally at the next TEDxNapaValley conference scheduled for March 30, 2014. (www.tedxnapavalley.org)

“TEDx events are about powerful and stimulating talks that spur thought and discussion, and ultimately action,” said co-curator Sandina Bailo. “We believe our theme will draw some interesting speakers for our event who have approached things differently.”

TEDx was created by the nonprofit organization TED, which began 30 years ago to bring together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Since then, its scope has become ever broader with a mission of sharing “ideas worth spreading.” At TEDx events, a combination of live presenters and screenings of TED Talks videos spark deep conversations and connections among attendees and presenters. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. Events each year have a common theme and talks are limited to 18 minutes or less.
